Section 2: The Potential Causes of Insomnia and Disrupted Sleep

We will begin by defining and explaining what insomnia is. Insomnia has many individual causes, meaning it’s necessary to identify the cause for the specific person with insomnia. In this section we will review the long list of potential causes of insomnia. The remedies to insomnia will require holistic solutions, and to determine whether the cause is controllable, such as diet, environmental or lifestyle related.  We will discuss mental chatter, especially negative mental chatter, as one of the most sleep disruptive activities.

This section will review the practice of doing some self analysis and paying daily attention to your activities to determine if there are factors, or lifestyle issues, that are causing your sleep disruption. You will learn how to look for solutions to insomnia based on your self analysis and through changing those conditions that cause insomnia and sleep disruption that can be remedied.
